The Committee against Racism and Anti-Semitism has published a statement commenting on President Juan Peron’s New Year’s message to the Jews, in which he asserted that the Argentine Government was opposed to anti-Semitism and was friendly to the Jews.
The committee declares that the actions of the government do not coincide with Peron’s statement. It points out that immigration is practically closed to Jews, that persons responsible for attacks upon Jewish personnel at the Buenos Aires University medical school are still unpunished, and that the Alianza Libertadora Nacionalista, the most rabid anti-Semitic party in the country, is permitted to operate without opposition from the government.
