The Catholic daily El Pusblo this week endorsed the discriminatory immigration policy of the Argentine Government. It says that “spiritual, political and social factors” must be considered in admitting immigrants and adds that the “religious factor” should not be ignored.
The Yiddish daily, Di Presse, commenting on the Ethnic Institute, which is headed by Commissioner of Immigration Dr. Santiago Peralta, who has espoused the policy of discriminatory immigration, says that the influence of the Institute may be responsible for the difficulties now being encountered by Jewish internees and doctors in public hospitals and Jewish students in the universities.
