A leader of the local nationalist movement, the Tacuara, charged at a press conference today that “systematic assaults” were being committed against Tacuara members by “Zionist storm troops.” The charge was made by Emilio Berra, commander of the Buenos Aires zone Tacuara, which is not identical with the leftwing movement of the same name banned by the Government after a series of open threats against Argentine Jewry.
Berra charged that one of the attacks took place in Buenos Aires when four Tacuara “youngsters” were assaulted by 15 to 20 men using hard objects. Berra said that the father of one of the Tacuara youths was hit in the eye and that he may lose it. He said that the injured youths were taken to a hospital and that one of the assailants, identified as Adniel Alberto Spival, 22, was detained by police.
Berra presented to reporters several youths, aged 17 to 18, who showed alleged gunshot wounds which Berra said were inflicted on them during an attack on another Buenos Aires street corner.
A delegation of the DAIA, the central body of Argentine Jewry, headed by President Issac Goldenberg, was received today by Argentine Interior Undersecretary Jose L. Vesco. The delegation described to the official recent extremist anti-Jewish activities in Argentina. Dr. Vesco expressed his “deep concern” but said no action had yet been taken on the problem because of the absence on official business of Interior Minister Juan Palmero.
