The prohibition of Schechita, traditional Jewish method of slaughtering animals for food, which had been introduced in the town of Bernascony by order of the Municipal Council last January, has been revoked.
The revocation was accomplished through the intervention of the newly-elected councilman, Meyer Rosenbach, who was invited to the session, although he was due officially to occupy his seat May 1. The report aroused much satisfaction among Argentine Jews, to many of whom the question of Schechita was not a vital issue, but a problem of respect for Jewish rights.
