An assurance that the Argentinean Government would not welcome any application by George Rockwell, or anyone else, to hold an international Nazi congress in Argentina was given by Ambassador Mario Pico, Argentinean representative at the United Nations, to the World Jewish Congress in New York.
Dr. Pico, who was accompanied by Dr. Julio Barboza, First Secretary, and Roberto Dalton, Press Attache, was the guest of Samuel Bronfman, vice-president of the WJC, at a luncheon here. In welcoming the Argentinean diplomats, Mr. Bronfman expressed the concern of the World Jewish Congress at recent manifestations of anti-Semitism in Argentina.
The Argentinean Ambassador is returning to Buenos Aires to become director of the Argentine Foreign Ministry’s Department for International Organizations and Treaties. He re-stated his government’s repudiation of the actions of Tacuara, a movement that he described as a group of irresponsible adolescents. Such activities were in open conflict with the Argentinean way of life, he said.
