David Blejer, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Interior since Dr. Arturo Frondizi was elected President of Argentina, will be sworn in as Minister of Labor and Social Security on Wednesday.
Mr. Blejer, a Jew, steps into one of the most difficult posts in the Cabinet at a time when labor relations and Peronist political intrigues around them have become one of the government’s most pressing problems. With strikes increasing in number and the problem of wages in an inflationary situation continuously in the forefront, the appointment of Mr. Blejer is seen here as an indication that the government–supported by the military–is taking tighter control of the labor situation and adopting a cooler position toward the Peronists.
