Argentine Jewish Parley Discusses Private Investment in Israel; Hears Grossman

Opportunities for private capital investment in Israel were doscribed here yesterday by Meir Grossman, member of the Jewish Agency executive, addwessing a session of the all-day Israel Economic Convention, which took place here under the auspices of the local office of the Jewish Agency. Abraham Mibasham presided.

Mr. Grossman termed as exaggerated reports that the Histadrut dominates the entire economic life of Israel. He suggested the creation in Argentina of a small investors group and revealed that a total of 85,000,000 pounds was invested in Israel during the past year as compared with 130,000,000 pounds invested during the entire British Mandate period.

Jewish community leaders and leading businessmen participated in the convention. Speakers included a spokesman for the Argentine-Israel Chamber of Commerce, who emphasized that the Argentine Government permits the transfer of funds from this country to Israel, and Israel’s charge d’affaires Mordecai Shneerson.
