A campaign to inform the Argentine public, Jewish and non. Jewish alike, of the Rumanian Government’s refusal to permit the emigration of younger Jewish men and women whose parents are in Israel, has been initiated by the DAIA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry.
The Argentine press, led by La Prensa which published a two-column letter from DAIA officers on the situation, has devoted considerable space to discussions of the situation. A large mass meeting attended by Argentine Jews heard Idov Cohen, a member of the Israel Parliament and leader of Rumanian Jews in Israel, accuse the Rumanian Communist regime of cynicism and bad faith in closing its doors to the emigration of these Jews.
