A spokesman for President Peron announced today that the Constitutional Commission, after consulting “high national leaders,” modified the section in the draft on constitutional reforms which proposed that foreigners remaining in Argentina more than two years must either become naturalized or ?eave the country.
This provision, which could have effected certain categories of Jews, has ?ow been rewritten. The new provision stipulates that aliens might apply for ?rge tine nationality after two years of residence. After five years of residence they would automatically become naturalized, unless they specifically stated that they did not wish to be naturalized. In that case they would retain their original nationality and would be permitted to continue their residence in Argentina.
