The Socialist newspaper, “La Vanguardia,” which appears illegally in this country, reports in its current issue that four Jewish printers who applied for membership in the Federation of Printers were denied admission to the union on the grounds that they were Jewish.
The paper quoted Cecilia Conditti, president of the Federation, as stating, in rejecting the membership bids of the four Jews, that “we do not need any Jews in the Federation.” All members of licensed trade unions, according to “La Vanguardia,” must state their religious affiliation when applying for membership.
