The new President of the Argentine Republic, General Uriburi, has received in audience M. Simon Weill, the Director in Buenos Aires of the Jewish Colonisation Association (Ica), and in the course of a very friendly conversation assured him that he was fully acquainted with the important work done by the Ica in the matter of Jewish colonisation in the Argentine, and that he appreciated the high value of this work. He expressed lively interest in the further plans of the Association, and his satisfaction with its projects for still further extending its activities. President Uriburi assured the representative of the Ica that the work of the Ica enjoys the fullest confidence of the Government.
The President was particularly interested in the information that a large number of agricultural families will be arriving shortly from Czecho-Slovakia, and expressed his regret that the Argentine Government had not acted up to the example of the Ica.
The general situation of the Jews of the Argentine was discussed, the President acknowledging the important part played by the Jews in the economic life of the country. General Uriburi asked M. Weill at the conclusion of the audience to transmit his best wishes to the General Direction of the Ica in Paris for the success of the future work of the Association.
