Argentine President Juan Peron this weekend granted an audience to Dr. Moises Toff, Under Secretary for Latin America in the Israeli Foreign Office, No details of the half-hour interview have been revealed. Last night a group of non-Jewish notables favorable to Israel’s cause gave Toff a banquet. Among the prominent guests was a former Foreign Minister of Paraguay.
At a press conference today Toff revealed that a private firm has been purchasing several million dollars worth of Argentine commodities for Israel. He expressed optimism concerning the possibilities of Argentina recognizing Israel and supporting its application for membership in the United Nations.
