Arieh Chill, representative of the Jewish Agency in Argentina, disclosed at a press conference here today that he has been authorized by Foreign Secretary Moshe Shertok and Immigration Secretary Moshe Shapiro to issue visas for Israel. Chill stressed that he is not a consul of Israel.
He hailed the more than 200 volunteers from South America who left to enlist in the Israeli Army. He emphasized that efforts were being made to place the volunteers in a special Latin American unit which is to be created soon.
