Argentine Zionist Women in Campaign to Foster Hebrew

The first national conference of the Zionist Women’s Organization of Argentina which was held here recently, resolved to found Hebrew kindergartens, organize youth clubs to be conducted in Yiddish, Hebrew or Spanish as conditions demand, to establish an Argentine colony in Palestine and to encourage more widespread use of Palestinian products in the Argentine. The sum of 3,000 pesos has already been assigned for the first shipment of Palestinian goods.

The conferences were presided over by Mrs. Sofia Nisenson, president of the organization, which reelected her for the new term of office. Other officers elected are Mrs. Berta Gershunov and Mrs. Asa Kurlos, vice-presidents; Dr. Paulina Trop, secretary.

The Zionist Women’s Organization of Argentina is an affiliate of the WIZO (Women’s International Zionist Organization). The Argentine organization has 22 divisions and 2,000 members, runs an agricultural school for girls in Palestine and for the past seven years has been making large contributions to the home office of the WIZO at London. The contributions are fifth largest of membership donations.
