Ariel Sharon rejected calls by four Israeli Cabinet ministers for a referendum on his Gaza withdrawal plan. “I will never give in to pressures and threats, nor accept any ultimatums,” the Israeli prime minister told Ha’aretz on Wednesday, referring to a pledge by the ministers, who include Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Limor Livnat, to resign in two weeks unless Sharon agrees to a referendum on withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank.
