Ariel Sharon said any new peace talks with Syria would have to start from scratch. The Israeli prime minister was responding to recent comments by Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Syrian leader said he is willing to resume peace talks only from the place they broke off when his father failed to reach an agreement with then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak in early 2000.
