The Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission today condemned the Israeli shelling of an Arab town in southern Palestine in the course of a recent two-day battle with a band of infiltrating Arabs.
The commission also held Jordan responsible, but to a lesser extent, for the action of its citizens in violating Israel’s frontiers. The Commission ordered the immediate clear demarcation of the Israel-Jordan frontier in the region in order to avert new incidents.
It was reported that Arab Legionnaires today, for the first time, took action against marauding Arabs returning to Jordan territory after a raid in Israel. The Jordan troops fired on the bands, wounding one, and returned stolen cattle to the Jews.
Arabs from Syria today fired on Israeli workers engaged in draining the Huleh swamp in eastern Galilee. Israeli guards returned the fire and the Arabs fled. There were no casualties on either side.
