Two years of unbroken observance of the Israel-Lebanon armistice agreement was marked yesterday at a meeting of the Israel-Lebanon Mixed Armistice Commission.
Col. de Ridder, Belgian acting chief of the U.N. observer staff, sent a message to the meeting praising the commission’s work during the past two years. He cited the commission’s success in settling all questions on its agenda and hoped that harmonious contacts would continue until a final peace settlement is reached.
Major Delseries, French chairman of the commission, pointed out that there had been no incidents involving the armed forces of the two countries. He said that headquarters of the U.N. observers had been temporarily transferred from Jerusalem to Beirut. The heads of the Israel and Lebanese delegations also spoke of mutual good relations existing in the commission and the meeting then took up questions on the current agenda.
