The Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission today discussed last Friday’s attack on five Israeli soldiers by Arab infiltrees near Sodom, in the Negev, and the killing of an Israeli civilian near Elath.
Over-riding the protests of the Jordan representative that the killers of the civilian could have come from Egyptian territory, the commission ordered Jordan to take the necessary steps “to restore peace and order throughout the area.” However, when the Jordan representative opposed the Israeli request for the appointment of a commission of inquiry to study Friday’s attack near Sodom, the matter was dropped.
