Army Court Jails Arab on Arms Charge; Sporadic Terrorism Continues

THE NEWLY-CREATED MILITARY TRIBUNAL HERE TODAY SENTENCED AN ARAB, SALIM IBN SALIM OF RAMLEH, TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSION OF FIREARMS, SAME CRIME FOR WHICH THE HAIFA ARMY COURT LAST WEEK, IN THE FIRST SUCH TRIAL, SENTENCED SHEIKH FARHAN ESSADI, ARAB TERRORIST CHIEF, TO HANGING.

MEANWHILE, SPORADIC ARAB TERRORISM CONTINUED, MARKED TODAY BY ANOTHER ATTEMPT ON THE LIFE OF THE ARAB MAYOR OF TULKAREM. SHOTS FIRED INTO HIS HOME WOUNDED AN ARAB GUEST. POLICE WHO SHOT AT A SUSPECT WERE FIRED UPON FROM AMBUSH.

THE ARAB NEWSPAPER AL JAMIA EL ISLAMIA REPORTED FROM AMMAN THAT THE TRANSJORDAN GOVERNMENT HAD REVEALED PLOTTERS AGAINST THE REGIME OF EMIR ABDULLAH HAD RECEIVED ABOUT $3,500 FROM AN UNNAMED FOREIGN POWER TO START A REVOLT.
