Robert H. Arnow, president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, announced today the election of four new members to the JTA Board of Directors and election of officers for the 1972-73 year. The four new board members are Max Jacobs of Buffalo, N.Y.; Ben Zion Leuchter of Vineland, N.J.; Leonard Sloane of New York; and Gordon B. Zacks of Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Arnow was re-elected president. Elected as vice-presidents were Raymond Epstein of Chicago and William Landau of New York. Philip Slomovitz of Detroit was re-elected as vice-president. Abraham Goodman of New York-New Jersey was re-elected treasurer. Julius Berman of New York was elected secretary. Jerold C. Hoffberger of Baltimore continues as chairman of the executive committee. Jacobs, who is active in the United Jewish Appeal in Buffalo, is executive vice-president of Sportservice Corp, in Buffalo.
Leuchter is editor of the Vineland Times Journal and co-publisher of the Hammonton News, both in New Jersey. He is chairman of the New Jersey United Jewish Appeal and vice-chairman of the New Jersey state executive committee for the sale of Israel Bonds. He also serves as president of the Vineland Jewish Community Council and is a member of the Board of Directors of United Hias Service.
Sloane is a financial reporter for the New York Times. He is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the American Committee for the Israel College of Fashions and Textiles. He was formerly a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal and business editor of Purchasing Magazine. He is a former president of the New York Financial Writers Association and a former director of the New York Business Paper Editors’ Association.
Zacks is president of the R.G. Barry Corp. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Jewish Appeal, the United Israel Appeal and the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds. A vice-president of the United Way in Columbus, Ohio, he was recently named to the Governor’s Business and Employment Council of Ohio. The JTA president said the new board members broadened the professional news expertise of the JTA board and gave the JTA wider representation among the Jewish communities.
