Abraham Guterman, Jewish artist, has instituted court proceedings against the heirs of Menachem Mendl Guterman, the rebbe of Radzimin, who died August 20. The rebbe, who had no children, left an estate valued at half a million zloty, which is being claimed by near and distant relatives of the deceased.
Guterman is a cousin of the rebbe and demands a part of the estate. At the rebbe’s court at Radzimin, however, the artist is not accorded any recognition whatsoever, on the ground that by his vocation he has disgraced the family.
The whole matter is complicated by the fact that the rebbe left no will, either with respect to his estate or his successor.
