Y. Ben Zvi, representing the Jewish National Council, and Emanuel Neumann, representing the Jewish Agency, interviewed the District Commissioner today on the question of Jewish representation on the Municipal Council of Jerusalem. They urged the Commissioner to recommend that at the next election the number of Jewish councilmen shall be made proportionate to the Jewish population of the city. Although the Jews now form the majority of Jerusalem’s population, there has been no Jewish representative on the municipal council since the resignation of four Jewish members some time ago in protest against the municipality’s neglect of Jewish interests.
