A movement for a kosher law in Tennessee has been started here.
This law, which is sponsored by Elijah D. Stampler, rabbi of Baron Hirch Synagogue, will be modeled after similar laws in New York, California and other states. Under the proposed law the state would designtae an official to inspect all kosher food to ascertain that it was made in strict conformity with Jewish dietary laws. He would stamp such goods as kosher.
Memphis Jews, to further the plan, have begun a movemeent to have a Jew placed on the Shelby County delegation.
