A call to the New York Jewish community to enroll in the movement to accelerate the economic development of Palestine so that it may provide a permanent home for the thousands of refugees to whom the doors of European countries are closed was issued last night by Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, at a special conference of Zionist leaders at the Hotel Pennsylvania. The conference, called by the New York Zionist Region, marked the official launching of a city-wide Zionist roll call in an effort to register the active support of 75,000 Jews for an enlarged program of Palestine reconstruction.
Other speakers were Louis Lipsky, Abraham Goldberg and Morris Margulies, secretary of the Zionist Organization of America.
