Asks Jerusalem to Defer Talks on Shop Closings

The municipality of Jerusalem was requested today by the High Commissioner of Palestine to postpone its discussion on the question of closing the stores in the city on Saturday.

Jerusalem, being a city with a mixed population of Moslems, Jews and Christians, will probably not be able to enforce the closing of stores on the Sabbath in view of the fact that the Christian shops are closed on Sunday and Moslems observe Friday
