A liberalization of the Immigration law to facilitate the admission as non quota immigrants of teachers and professors from abroad was asked here yesterday by Professor Casimir D. Zdanowicz of the University of Wisconsin in an address delivered at the annual dinner of the American Association of University Professors, whose convention is now in progress at Yale University.
The restrictions on non quota teachers have “occasioned all kinds of trouble to American colleges and foreign professors who have been in demand in this country,” Dr. Zdanowicz declared. “There should be no barrier to the importation of brains into America. For educational reasons they should be admitted — the teacher, student, the book, the educational film.
“The foreign teacher and professor have made a decided contribution to American education and should not be subjected, for instance, to the inquisition and annoyance when an American institution wishes to secure him.”
