A conference of representatives of world Jewry and world Islam should attempt to solve the Wailing Wall question, according to a suggestion made in an editorial in the “Juedische Rundschau,” Berlin Zionist organ.

“Judaism as a religious community and Islam as a religious community have until now not had any organized body that could represent them in dealings with the outside world, but their interests are so distinct that the establishment of such authoritative bodies is absolutely possible. It would mean a great progress if this question about the solution of which the European powers are not agreed and which really lies outside of their jurisdiction, were to be discussed and solved by bodies that are historically the proper ones to solve it.

“Representatives of world Jewry and world Islam should attempt among themselves a solution of the question. Perhaps in this way these bodies could show that they do not need a trusteeship. Let us not waste any more time in waiting until some new international body will take up the question. The sooner this religious strife will have been brought to an end, the better it will be for the entire situation in Palestine.”
