A call to the members of 250 congregations in various parts of the country that are its constituent members, “to repair to their synagogues on March 7 to offer up public prayer that the campaign against religion in Soviet Russia may come to a speedy end, giving way to that brotherhood which is the flowering of God’s spirit on earth,” was this week issued by the United Synagogue of America, representing the conservative wing of American Judaism, and made public through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The call is in line with the resolution recently adopted by the Synagogue Council of America which asked that the Jews of America set aside March 7 as a day of prayer.
