Asser Saphir, a well-known Palestine journalist and an adviser to the Middle Eastern division of the Fighting French foreign commissariat, died here today at the age of 49. Saphir, who was born in Palestine, served in the French army during World War I. After the collapse of France in 1940, he offered his services to Gen. DeGaulle and was recently promoted to the rank of captain in the Fighting French forces.
