Phillips Talbot, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, will arrive in Israel this month for a four-day visit as guest of the American Embassy in Tel Aviv, it was announced here today. He will be preceded by Senator Hubert Humphrey, Minnesota Democrat, who is expected to meet with Israeli leaders and discuss Middle East problems and Israeli-United States relations.
Although no timetable was as yet set for these meetings, it was noted that the top American statesmen would be able to meet both Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister. Mrs. Meir will return to Israel next week from the United Nations General Assembly.
Meanwhile, 90 members of a Los Angeles study group arrived today for a 15-day visit under sponsorship of the United Jewish Appeal and the Jewish Agency. The group was led by Ted Zuckerman, general chairman of the cash campaign of the Jewish Federation-Council of Greater Los Angeles.
