Greater cooperation between Catholics and non-Catholics in the fight against intolerance was urged here last night by Assistant Secretary of State Headland Shaw, addressing a meeting of the National Conference of Catholic Charities. Mr. Shaw is president of the Conference. He said that any compromise on the treatment of racial minorities “in our American democracy would for us be disastrous.”
