Despite protests from many parts of the country against American participation in German athletic events, two teams representing the Amateur Athletic Union were scheduled to sail shortly after midnight Saturday aboard the North German Lloyd liner Europa.
One team is responding to an invitation issued by the Athletic Association of Munich, Germany. The other, headed by Daniel J. Ferris, secretary and treasurer of the A. A. U., will take part in contests at Stockholm.
Ferris said Friday that all transportation arrangements had been made by athletic associations in Europe. He said the German steamship had been chosen because its schedule agreed with theirs.
