Opposition to the establishment of a Jewish University in New York was expressed by Jacob Katz, rabbi of the Montefore Congregation, the Bronx, in his sermon Sunday.
“Would that no necessity for such a proposal in this country had ever been found.” said Dr. Katz. “I. for one, would want to see all men of all denominations bonded in the brotherhood of Washington’s ideal that the country have a national university.”
A Jewish University said Dr. Katz, is not a bad cause, but it is not a good cause. “I would rather think of this proposal as dying in its infancy and warning in its demise non-Jews in America that they have not been Eving up to American ideals.”
