Dr. Wilhelm Filderman, president of the Union of Rumanian Jews, today protested to the Minister of Labor against reported attempts of the Bucharest Bar Association and the Federation of Liberal and Professional Associations to bar Jews. He said the federation was meeting on April 25 to carry out an anti-Semitic program.
Dr. Filderman also gave the minister a memorandum charging bar associations with usurping certain of Parliament’s functions. The memorandum says notices were posted in lawyers’ rooms in Bucharest courts forbidding Jews to enter the courts.
In Bucharest and Jassy courts, the memorandum declared, posters warn Jewish lawyers not to represent “pure-blood” Rumanians.
The Labor Minister promised to consider the memorandum.
