Sentence of Leon Hurlitz, a Jew, for retaining his revolver during the attack on the Sharehessed quarter was upheld by the Court of Appeal yesterday. Hurlitz was originally fined $15. The case was appealed by Attorney-General Norman Bentwich, who urged a more severe sentence. The Court of Appeal also reduced the 15-year sentences imposed on twelve Safed Arabs, charged with burning a Jewish house, to five years. Jacob Hassun, a Jew, charged with looting the Arab tax office during the riots of last August, was acquitted.
