Attorney General Hausner Resigns Formally; Cabinet to Name Successor

Attorney General Gideon Hausner today formally carried out his announced resignation. He attended part of the Cabinet meeting yesterday at which Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion reported on the Attorney General’s determination to leave his post over differences with Justice Minister Dov Joseph.

Mr. Hausner thanked the Cabinet for the confidence placed in him and the Premier expressed regret over Mr. Hausner’s resignation. Dr. Joseph will assume the post of acting Attorney General until a successor is named by the Cabinet.
