The Jewish Agency reported today that 609 immigrants from the United States and Canada arrived in Israel during August, the largest number to come from those countries in any single month. According to the Agency’s immigration department, a total of 3,000 newcomers arrived in August, among them 467 from France, 132 from Britain, 145 from Latin America, 35 from South Africa and 28 from Australia.
