A mass-meeting in the town hall of the city of Hobart in the state of Tasmania this week adopted a resolution appealing to the Australian Government to cooperate with other nations in offering asylum to Jews who can flee German-occupied Europe, it was reported here today.
The meeting, which was addressed by Prof. H. A. Woodruff of Melbourne. University and Rabbi H. Saenger of this city, who are touring Tasmania under the auspices of the League of Nations Union, also urged the United Nations to take immediate rescue measures. The resolution said that the Australian Government will earn the respect of the entire world if it admits refugees.
