A national conference of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, representative body of the Jews of this Commonwealth, today decided to suggest to the Jewish communities of the Far East and the World Jewish Congress that a regional conference be held in Australia to discuss the common problems of Jews in the Far East.
The Council’s decision was adopted after hearing a report on the subject by Dr. Maurice Perlzweig, W.J.C. leader who is now touring the Pacific and Far Eastern area. Invitations to the conference will be sent to the communities of New Zealand, Indonssia, Malaya, the Philippines, Burma, Indo-China, Fiji Islands and India. The Council also decided to ask the Australian Government to use its influence to get the right of petition included in the International Bill of Human Rights.
