Abram Landa, Jewish deputy in the New South Wales state legislature, said today he would press for removal of “restrictions on foreign physicians.” He emphasized that under the present medical laws, only eight foreign-born physicians may be licensed annually.
Last week, he said, eight doctors form abroad who are now living here were licensed thus filling the 1950 quota, Pointing up the hardships which foreign-born physicians must undergo before they can qualify for government examinations, the Jewish deputy said he would concentrate especially on seeking the removal of numerical restrictions on licensing foreign doctors.
