An invitation to George Rockwell, leader of the American Nazi party, to visit Australia, was withdrawn here today by the extreme right-wing Australian Nationalist Workers party. The action followed protests last week when it was learned that Rockwell was scheduled to address an anti-Communist demonstration on May 1.

In explaining the withdrawal of the invitation, Arthur Smith, Nationalist party leader, declared: “Our invitation has caused too much trouble and, if we had persisted in it, we would have antagonized the Government.”
