Thirty-Seven percent of the Australian people would favor a Jewish settlement in northern Australia, while forty-seven percent are opposed to it and sixteen percent are undecided, according to the results of a Gallup poll released here today.
Commenting on the results, the organizers of the poll state that they would seem to indicate that Australians are not opposed to normal Jewish immigration into towns and cities but that many fear that a separate Jewish settlement would create a minority problem. Some expressed the fear that the Jewish settlers would eventually leave such a settlement and come to the cities.
