The Austrian government circles today estimated that the payment of 550, 000, 000 schillings compensation to Austrian victims of Nazism living abroad will be completed by the end of 1960 – within four years instead of 10 years as originally anticipated.
Official statistics made available here today show that, so far, almost 400, 000, 000 schillings have been paid out to the persecutees. Of the total, 175, 000, 000 went to persecutees living in the United States, and 60, 000, 000 schillings to former Austrian victims of Nazism now residing in Israel.
