Austria Jews Ask Right to Fight Back

The enactment of a law permitting Jews actively to defend their honor was demanded today in a memorandum submitted to the Austrian government by the Jewish Peoples League of Austria.

The memorandum points out that the Nazi susidized press in Austria is conducting anti-Jewish propaganda which is reaching a point dangerous to the Jewish population. The fact that the authorities do not take any action against the anti-Semitic incitement of the Nazi press is regretted by the Jewish population, the memorandum emphasized.

Dr. Leopold Plaschkes, former member of the Vienna City Council and one of the Zionist leaders here, writing in his paper, Der Juedische Weg, on the present political situation of the Jews in Austria, says:

The “Aryan” press agitates in an incredible fashion against the Jews, and no State Attorney and no Government authority says a word against it.
