The Zionist Federation of Austria today decided to lodge a protest with the Palestine Executive of the Jewish Agency against methods practiced by the Executive in distributing immigration certificates among Jews from European countries.
Similar protests were cabled to the Executive last week from Poland. The Zionist Organization in Galicia and various Zionist groups in Poland expressed dissatisfaction with methods employed by the Palestine Executive in allocating immigration certificates for Jews in various European countries.
In its complaint against the Executive the Zionist Federation of Austria points out that the number of immigration certificates assigned for Austria is “most inadequate.” Leaders of the Austrian Zionists point out that the present indescribable political and economic situation of Austrian Jewry entitles Austrian Zionists to the same considerations as those given German Zionists in facilitating their migration to Palestine.
The Zionist Federation of Austria always has supported the present Executive of the World Zionist Organization. Therefore, it is expected that the protest from Austria will induce the Executive in Palestine to revise the number of certificates assigned that country.
