Austrian authorities today started an investigation into the distribution in Germany of an anti-Semitic book which was published in Austria and confiscated here by order of the Austrian government.
The authorities here find it difficult to explain how copies of the confiscated book are now available in Germany, unless it is again being published illegally in Austria.
A visit of the president of a prominent German film company to Vienna as guest of the Gremium, the Austrian association of motion picture proprietors, was considered here today as foreshadowing the renewal of a contract between the German and Austrian film industries.
It was stated here today that one of the chief objects of the negotiations will be an attempt of the Austrian film owners to free themselves from the Nazi racial clauses in their contracts which provide for the elimination of Jewish actors from the films.
