Despite pressure from Nazi and monarchist circles in Austria, the drafting committee incorporating into the Austrian state treaty changes agreed to by the Ambassadors of the four occupying powers have kept in the draft several articles pledging Austria to rid itself of Nazi organizations.
Article 9 of the treaty would oblige Austria to dissolve all Nazi and Nazi controlled organizations and to eradicate all traces of Nazism from the country’s political, economic and cultural life. Article 10 would require Austria to complete legislative and administrative measures to eliminate all relics of Nazism and would forbid restoration of the Hapsburg dynasty.
