Austria’s Ambassador to Israel, who was recalled in October, will be returning to Israel, it was announced Tuesday by Chancellor Franz Vranitzky. He told reporters after a Cabinet meeting that the return of Ambassador Otto Pleinert was “an expression of the desire, the will and the effort for good and correct relations with Israel.” Pleinert was recalled from Israel after Israel withdrew its Ambassador, Michael Elizur, following the election of Kurt Waldheim as President of Austria last June.
