The Austrian Cabinet Council accepted today a draft law under which financial help will be provided to the Jewish community, as has already been done with other Austrian religious communities, for damage suffered during the war years.

The draft provides for the payment in a lump sum of 30,000,000 shillings (about $1,200,000) payable at the rate of 6,000,000 shillings (about $240,000), for each of the next five years for the restoration of destroyed synagogues and cemeteries. The draft also provides yearly payments totaling 900,000 shillings (about $35,000) plus salaries for 23 employes of the Jewish community.
